St. Matthews Episcopal Church

Holy Eucharist, the sharing of the body and blood of Jesus Christ, is the core component of Episcopal worship. It was ordered by Jesus in the Upper Room. Holy Eucharist is celebrated at St. Matthews Episcopal Church every Sunday at 9:00.

The Eucharist is celebrated at the altar of the church. The priest will first offer the bread, which may be immediately consumed or held until the chalice of wine is offered. The wine may be consumed directly from the chalice or by dipping the wafer (the bread) into the cup.

Persons desiring a blessing rather than accepting the sacramental meal may go forward and cross arms over one's chest to indicate that you are requesting a blessing rather than the sacrament.
