You undoubtedly noticed a group made up mainly of tweens, teens, and 20-somethings in the church parking lot yesterday morning when you arrived for mass. They blocked access to several visitors and handicapped parking spaces on the north side of the parking lot.
We checked with them and found that they were there because of Pokemon GO, the popular network game. I'm sure you noticed that they, without exception were tightly holding their phones or tablets.
Pokemon was contacted yesterday afternoon. We cannot find how the church's address got added to the list of GO locations. They made it clear that it's far easier to get a location added than to get one removed.
They refused my request because I do not OWN the location. Maybe a prayer that God, as the ultimate owner of the church, will zap GO? Maybe that's too extreme.
We're working on a resolution to the problem but no guarantees are in sight yet. We'll keep you posted as we know more.
